Michael McDonalds killer denied parole

Editor, Manteca Bulletin,

I want to thank all you caring people who signed petitions and wrote letters to keep William Nichols in prison. He murdered our son Michael McDonald. A lot of you knew Mike. He graduated from East Union in 1973 and was loved by all who knew him.

We went to our sixth hearing in Vacaville during September of 2016 and they did not have all the papers in so we had to return six months later on March 14, 2017 for a continuation. Nichols was denied parole. We were very afraid he would get out . Because of Jerry Brown’s new law they are letting lots of violent criminals out. We were not happy that they gave him only three years before another hearing which means he will automatically come up in one year.

This was a double, premeditated, special circumstances murder and he tried to kill five other people

He shouldn’t even be coming up for parole but the DA at the time let him plea bargain. We have been apologized to by other district attorneys who don’t understand how this happened.

Again, we want to thank you for your help. How many letters and petitions they receive are always mentioned by the Board and it does help to keep him in prison where he belongs.

Thank you.

Eulys and Doris Morgan
