Tired of waiting for DeBrum to do better

Editor, Manteca Bulletin,

A letter in the Saturday, Aug. 25, Bulletin, sitting council member. Rich Silverman extolled the many virtues of Steve DeBrum and how he, Mike Morowit. and Dave Breitenbucher are striving to make Manteca “better and better”.  Steve DeBrum has been on the  city council for 16 years four of those as Mayor. In the 26 years my husband and myself have lived in Manteca we have seen the city deteriorate rather than get “better and better”.  Can Mr. Silverman tell us when that process is supposed to begin?  How many chances should we give this Mayor with his “years of carefully crafted leadership” and “years of experience”.

It seems Mr. Silverman thinks one of the very important criteria for a position as Mayor or council member should be attending “social events, fundraisers and community gatherings” to a “large extent”.  Personally I’d rather they spend a “large extent” of their time working on the city’s problems and developing solutions.

From my perspective I have only seen Manteca get bigger and bigger not “better and better”.  I am tired of waiting for Steve DeBrum to do better. I don’t know about any of you who may be reading this but I would like to give someone else a shot to make our city better.  DeBrum has not “earned” nor does he “deserve” my vote.
