Manteca High’s football team rode the backs of two powerful linemen in its historic 2013 campaign.
Cal-Hi Sports recognized the tandem Monday, placing the Buffaloes on its All-State Medium Schools Football Teams. Manteca Bulletin All-Area MVP Billy Sharmoug, a 6-foot-1, 300-pound left guard, was named to the medium-schools first team, while 6-3, 295-pound left tackle Isaac McClain earned spot on the second team.
Together, they led the Buffaloes to a 13-2 record, Valley Oak League and Sac-Joaquin Section Division III championships as well as the program’s first CIF NorCal Bowl Game appearance.
Ripon Christian standout Andrew Brown made the small-schools first team after one of the section’s most prolific rushers enjoyed a record-setting career. He is the SJS career touchdown leader and No. 4 on the all-time state list. Brown also spearheaded the Knights to their first SJS championship game.
