Kameron Jones racked up 174 yards for Lathrop on Friday and scored four touchdowns as the Spartans rolled to a 56-0 road win over Mt. Diablo in Concord.

Jones used 12 carries for those 174 yards with touchdown runs of 5, 7 and 11 yards along with a 50-yard punt return for a score.

Jimari Dove (four carries, 81 yards) scored from six yards out with Jeremiah Green scoring on an 18-yard run, Leonardo Guerrero tallying a touchdown from 15 yards out and Julio Garcia scored on a 3-yard run. Adrian Padilla picked up 61 yards on eight carries.

“It has been our mantra to win the line of scrimmage,” Spartans coach Ryan Teicheira said. “We preach to the liners to get to where you have to go and they did a good job of setting edges, down blocks, pulling, wrapping and opening things up. We were able to take advantage of the outside on our buck sweep.

“We had kind of a sloppy start with lazy penalties that held us back a bit. We still scored on the first drive and then in the middle of the game we started going and doing what we normally do.”

Lathrop threw just two passes.

“We could have thrown more,” Teicheira said. “We wanted to ground and pound and get our run game going.”

Green led the Spartans with four tackles. Ryan Buccat added two with Dove, Sean Teu, Westley Reyes Nathan Martinez and Anthony Cuellar all contributing on defense.

Lathrop hosts Weston Ranch on Friday at 7 p.m.
