The Dallas Baptist-bound hurler got the Buffaloes’ started on the right foot in Valley Oak League play last week.
On March 22, he was a walk and a hit batter away from a perfect game in a 7-0 win at Weston Ranch.
“He was amazing last week,” Manteca coach Mark Ruiz said. “He located well and had a great breaking ball. When he’s on the bump, he’s our best defender. He did what he was supposed to do.”
It was the second no-hitter of his varsity career, and the 12 strikeouts is the most he has had in a high school game.
Todd was also a factor offensively, as he went 2 for 4 with double, a run and an RBI. He plated two more runs against Weston Ranch last Thursday in a 15-0 shelling.
He entered this week with a 4-1 record, 0.32 earned run average and 40 strikeouts in 21 2/3 innings. He also held a .303 batting average with five doubles and seven RBIs.
