Versatile Dougherty named TVL MVP after leading Ripon's title defense
Bulletin girls soccer 2019-20
Ripon standout Devaney Dougherty takes a Hilmar defender off the dribble in a Trans-Valley League first-place showdown at Stouffer Field.

From the wing to outside back and anywhere in between, Devaney Dougherty was a versatile threat for two-time defending Trans-Valley League champion Ripon this past winter season.

The dynamic junior was voted the league's girls soccer MVP, finishing as the leading scorer for the Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV finalist. Teammate Kailey Tijero was named the TVL's top defender, while Bryce Perkins is Coach of the Year.

Ricky Alvarez is the lone All-TVL player for Ripon's boys team.

Tijero anchored a back line that had five shutouts while surrendering only six goals in 10 TVL matches. She was also a threat on the attacking third, especially in set pieces, contributing 11 goals and 10 assists.

Junior midfielder Ariana Scholten made all-league for a third time after producing 13 goals and 26 assists. Senior defender Deanna Sandoval (three assists) and sophomore Madelyn Winter (13 goals, eight assists) round out Ripon's All-TVL players.
