WESTON RANCH – Wafa Hafed put on a performance to remember as the Weston Ranch soccer squad rolled the McNair Eagles 6-0 to close out its non-league schedule with an impressive win.

Hafed got going in a hurry, scoring three of her four goals in the game’s first 40 minutes. Hafed would add another score late in the second half for the first four-goal game of her career.

“She is just a great talent,” Cougar head coach Carlos Gaspar said. “She really knows the sport well; she does a great job helping her teammates; she’s just an all-around good player.”
Weston Ranch’s Jasmine Quintero netted the Cougars other two goals.

The Cougars (3-4) will try to get off to a good start in the Valley Oak League season Tuesday when they make the short trek to Lathrop to meet up with the Spartans.

Ripon 2, Sonora 0
RIPON – The Indians got an early goal from Rose Beeler and kept Sonora at bay in a 2-0 non-league win over the Wildcats Thursday at Parkview Elementary.

Ripon (3-1-1) bounced back from its first loss of the season after falling to Oakdale 3-1 in its last game. Ripon used a strong defensive effort to keep Sonora off the scoreboard and put things out of reach when Mariah Denhart got a breakaway and sliced to middle-field and netted a clean left-footer for Ripon’s final score.

The Indians will kick off tournament action Saturday when both their varsity and sophomore squads will travel to Manteca and play against Lincoln of Stockton and tourney host East Union. The program with the most success out of the two levels combined will decide the tournament.
