The Manteca Buffaloes like how things are going right now, earning their second consecutive Valley Oak League win 236-245 over the Sierra Timberwolves Tuesday at Manteca Golf Course.

Medalist honors belonged to Manteca’s Justin Morrish, who turned in a round of 41. Manteca (2-0, 3-1 overall) got strong rounds from Tim Baker (44) and Kyle Howard (48) to help provide the difference. Sierra was led by Drew Allen’s round of 42, followed by teammate’s Joey Guinta and Chris Schmitz’s 48.

Brandon Ramirez and Davey Tolbert rounded out the Buffaloes final scores with a 51 and 52, respectively. And Ray Tinnin qualified with a 55.

Sierra got a 50 from Esley Green, a 57 from Matt Rose and a 61 Alex Orr.

Oakdale 196, East Union 214

The Lancers were able to turn in a respectable score, but could not put together a team-performance equal to the Mustangs, falling 196-214 Tuesday in VOL play.

Jordan Duvall led the Lancers with a 3-over-par round of 39, while Will Brink (40), Zach Couch (42) and Eric Lewis (44) all turned in relatively good scores.

“I thought we’d be in there with a low-200s score; I thought we’d be about 202 or 203,” East Union head coach Dennis Wells said. “Our problem was our No. 3 guy did not shoot that well. But like I told the guys, we’re going to turn this loss into a positive and move on.

“We get another chance at them at our place.”

Jordan Lund and Evan Lewis rounded out the Lancers’ scorecard with a 49 and 52, respectively.

Oakdale’s Ian Stogdell turned in medalist honors with a 2-over-par 38.
