With aspirations for a Valley Oak League title embedded in the program, East Union had a clear agenda when it came to visiting Sonora Thursday in Valley Oak League play. The Lancers handled business, beating Sonora 204-226 at Manteca Golf Course.

Will Brink continued his impressive opening to the season, shooting an even-par round of 37 for medalist honors. Evan Lewis followed Brink with a 2-over-par 39, while Zach Couch (40), Jordan Duvall (43) and Eric Lewis (45) rounded out the scorecard.

“We knew coming in that this was sort of like a must-win for us today,” East Union head coach Dennis Wells said. “For us to win, it takes some pressure off of us when we go up there.

“Now, if we beat them up there at their place it’s like a bonus.”

Barrett McLaughlin paced the Wildcats with a 39.
