Manteca is set up to host at least two games for the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs next week.

The Buffaloes (19-8) were awarded the No. 4 seed in Division III after their challenging regular season and will square off with No. 13 Armijo (15-1) of Fairfield, the Greater Sacramento League champion, next Wednesday, May 14.

They’re among the four postseason qualifiers among area schools. Rival East Union (15-13) and Ripon (18-7) are both No. 6 seeds in separate brackets, while first-time qualifier Lathrop (10-12) is on the road.

Manteca could potentially be involved in a high-scoring affair against Armijo, which produced gaudy numbers in its light regular-season schedule. Freshman Brooklyn Talbot paces the Royals, hitting .996 with five home runs and 46 RBIs.

A win for the Buffaloes could set up a rubber game with Valley Oak League rival Oakdale, seeded fifth, on Friday. VOL champion Central Catholic is the No. 1 seed.

East Union and Lathrop are both in Division IV. The Lancers will welcome No. 11 Will C. Wood (14-9), while No. 14 Lathrop travels to third-seeded Yuba City (17-8-1), which finished in a three-way tie for second place in the Football Valley League. Reigning NorCal Division II champion Destiny Christian Academy (19-2) tops the Division IV bracket

Trans Valley League champion Ripon has slipped to Division V and starts with No. 11 Woodland Christian (20-4). Casa Roble (15-6-1) is the No. 1 seed.

Play-in games are on Monday. Championship games for Divisions I-VI are on May 24 at Sacramento State, Cosumnes River College and Delta College.
