Ripon Christian showed some ill effects on a lengthy spring break, but the Knights found their stride soon enough in a 7-1 blowout win over Le Grand High Tuesday in Southern League play.

The Knights (5-4-1, 10-7-1 overall) started off lackluster in the game’s opening minutes, but would close the half on a four goals to none onslaught to settle into halftime with a comfortable 4-0 margin.

“I was proud of the team today,” Ripon Christian head coach Kevin Tameling said. “They were the more prepared, focused and aggressive of the two clubs the entire match.”

The Knights would continue the pattern early in the second half, netting two more goals in the opening moments of the second half. Teagan Manus would bring the Knights’ scoring to an end with the final of her three-goal hat trick.

Le Grand would add a meaningless goal in the game’s final minutes to ruin the shutout for Ripon Christian goalie Brittany Petlansky. Both Ashely Bloemhof and Natalie Prins both tallied goals in the win.

Natalie Van Groningen also netted a goal and dished out a pair of assists.
