The Manteca Buffaloes used a solid outing from Peyton Rose Tuesday, stopping the Lathrop Spartans 7-2 in Valley Oak League action.

Rose was dominant throughout, going seven innings, striking out eight and not allowing a walk. Rose tossed six shutout innings, before giving up two unearned in the Spartans’ final at-bat. Manteca had four hitters with multiple hits, but couldn’t get the big knock to put the game out of reach early.

“We really should have been able to put them way earlier,” Manteca head coach Corey Navarro said. “We left 10 runners on base and left them juiced in tow different innings.

“That is an area that we definitely have to work on.”

Selena Rodriguez led the offensive attack with a 3 for 4 day at the plate, driving in a game-high three runs. Celina Cooper was 2 for 4 with a pair of RBI and Anissa Gonzalez drove in a run for Manteca.

The Buffaloes will try and continue their winning ways when they hook up with the defending Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV champion Sierra High Thursday at Sierra.
