STOCKTON – Sierra’s Abigail Ramirez may be a first-year wrestler, but she does not compete like one.

The Timberwolves sophomore 160-pounder took first place Saturday in the McNair Invitational and she did so in convincing fashion.

“Abigail came out strong and wrestled well,” Sierra coach Alex Nuanez said. “She worked her takedowns like a veteran wrestler to win the championship with a first-round pin.”

Alexa Garcia (170) and Exra Moral (101) finished second for the Timberwolves. Sierra’s Cami Jarmon (116) and Johnny Hosmee (132) were third.

Diego Rodriguez (113) and Jacob Sanchez (195) took fifth place for Manteca and teammate Bryan Resendiz (195) was sixth.

Lathrop’s Mysson Harrell (138) and Keonnee Linnell (160) finished fifth and Karanveer Singh (126) finished sixth.

Ceres Tournament

CERES – East Union’s Joe Luna was second on Saturday at 138 pounds.

Tyler Diaz (113) made the finals and Trinidad Diaz (160) made the semifinals for the Lancers but both had to leave early so Tyler Diaz finished second and Trinidad Diaz was sixth.
