Ripon had two golfers finish in the top 10 in Monday’s Sac-Joaquin Section Division V Tournament held at Micke Grove Golf Links, but both played their final round of the season.

The Indians as a group finished in third place with a 530, trailing only tourney champion Capital Christian (503) and Valley Foothill League North Division rival Escalon (512). Capital Christian and the top three finishers move on to next week’s SJS Masters Tournament at The Reserve at Spanos Park.

Laura Williams ended up two strokes away from forcing a playoff for the third individual berth. She and Escalon’s Molly Landon finished in a tie for fourth place with 89s. The tournament’s top-six placers received medals.

Ripon’s Alex Gonzales placed 10th with a score of 99. Erin Wever (101), Breeana Huckell (118) and Taylor Enriquez (123) also contributed for the Indians, who won their first-ever section title last year.

“I am very proud that each girl improved this year,” Ripon coach Eric Dambrosio said. “We will lose Erin Wever next year, but the rest of the girls will be together for the next two years.”
