ROUNDUP: VFL title in sight for Ripon golf

MODESTO — The Valley Foothill League North Division title is within reach for Ripon’s girls golf team.
Spearheaded by Bianca Toledo’s 5-over 32 on Tuesday, the Indians cruised to a stress-free 136-182 victory over Waterford at St. Stanislaus Golf Course.  They are now 13-0 with one dual match remaining in the regular season.
Up next is Amador on the road Thursday and the VFL Championships next Monday at Micke Grove Golf Links.
Gabbi Ilardi and Myra Toledo each scored a 34, and Zoe Bremer capped scoring with a 36. Mia Etcheverry ended with a 42 to lead Waterford (4-11).

Lathrop 260, Los Banos 304
MODESTO — Lathrop is locked in a battle for second place in the Western Athletic Conference, improving to 9-4 (10-4 overall).
The Spartans host Mountain House on Thursday at Manteca Park Golf Course, with both teams battling for the runner-up position behind unbeaten Pacheco. Amanda Zamora and Abigail Bautista each carded a 45 Tuesday at St. Stanislaus Golf Course.

East Union 209, Weston Ranch 265
STOCKTON — Brittany Barringon finished 3-over 30 to lead East Union’s Valley Oak League win at Swenson Park Golf Course.
Melinda Amick and Michelle Euan contributed a 33 and 34, respectively. Weston Ranch’s Deena Faruqi turned in a 46, and first-year player Lea’Zae Smith had a 47.

Kimball 261, Sierra 295
TRACY —Mikaella Manto was low medalist with a 40, but it wasn’t enough for Sierra to overcome the host Jaguars.
Rachel Maxwell led Kimball with a 45, and she was supported by Lovi Vakalahi’s 49. Others scoring for Sierra are Julia Erdman (54), Mackenzie Funk (66), Anna Dickinson (67) and Madison Willox (68).

Pacheco 13, Lathrop 10 (G)

LOS BANOS — The Spartans came up short in their most competitive match of the season.
Marijane Bergren anchored Lathrop with four goals, Delaney Vega had three, Sophia Serrano two and Alexa Ortiz-McCollum one. Ashley Van Diggelen had seven blocks on defense. Rachel Aldama paced Pacheco with nine goals.

LOS BANOS — Jermaine Buckley and Christian Buerster netted two goals apiece for Lathrop. J.R. Stevenson accounted for the other goal.
Gustavo Landa-Betancourt had six blocks.
