Weston Ranch caught East Union’s attention early in their Valley Oak League girls soccer match on Friday, scoring the first goal just four minutes in.

It was all Lancers from there, as the visiting side rolled to a 9-1 victory behind Hailey Sims’ two goals and three assists and Tallon Cervantez’s hat trick.

Thania Valencia added two goals to the East Union attack. Jenna Campbell and Britney Barringon scored one apiece.

Yaritza Jimenez scored the lone goal for Weston Ranch. Cougars keeper Kehura Elerbe finished with 10 saves.

“We have a young and inexperienced team, but they showed fight and a lot of heart tonight against a very good East Union team,” Weston Ranch coach Gabe Padilla said. “I am not mad about the effort.”
