Sierra got a much-needed win at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium Saturday, blowing out visiting Sonora with a five-goal barrage in the second half. The game was tied 2-2 at halftime.

The Timberwolves (3-5-1 Valley Oak League, 7-7-3 overall) broke a three-match winless streak that included back-to-back one-goal losses to Oakdale and rival East Union. They were also without their top two scorers, Naomi Nunis (knee) and Jessica Cuenca (ankle), who were out with injuries.

Sydnee Canales helped pick up the slack for Sierra. She finished with two goals while tallying four assists. Maira Cruz added two goals of  her own. Alexis Young, Kyrstin Riley and Toree Iniguez added one goal each. Marissa LaQuaglia contributed two assists.

Sierra has another big game tonight when it plays host to Manteca starting at 6:30.
