Sierra’s Anna Dittman on the girls 5,000-meter race Wednesday with the Timberwolves taking second in the Valley Oak League Cross Country Meet No. 1 at Mistlin Sports Complex.
Dittman’s championship time was 19 minutes, 18.36 seconds, more than 50 seconds ahead of second place.
“I feel pretty good,” Dittman said. “It was a pretty slow race.
“I’m just glad I got first for my team.”
East Union’s Alysia Sinclair finished eighth (20:56.10)
“It felt good,” Sinclair said. “This was my first 5K race ever.
“Even though I am kind of injured right now I still feel kind of amazing.”
Sierra’s Abigail Fraser was ninth (21:35.54), Manteca’s Avina Harrington 10th (22:22.32) and Manteca’s Paisley Coenenberg 11th (22:29.45).
Oakdale won the girls competition with 23 points, Sierra was second (44) and Manteca third (75).
In boys competition, Sierra’s Sebastian Patterson was the first non-Oakdale runner to finish, notching a fifth place (17:09.19).
“I think I could have done better,” Patterson said. “I feel good, but I think I could have done better.”
Timberwolves teammate Maximus Perez was seventh (17:25.52).
“I feel pretty tired,” Perez said. “I think I could have performed better, especially pacing wise where I fell off a bit.
“But I will rebound on Saturday at Frogtown.”
East Union’s Elijah Galvan was 13th (18:05.71).
“I feel good,” Galvan said. “But it’s tough with my breathing because I have asthma.
“I feel like I did pretty good this today compared to last season.”
Sierra’s Malcolm Nguyen was 12th (17:58.27) and East Union’s Prince Chweya 17th (18:21.04).
Oakdale ran away with the boys competition with 19 points and Sierra was second with 56.
Sierra won the boys 2-mile junior varsity with 23 points and a 1-2-4 finish. Jordan Murrieta finished first (12:22.03), Ayman Sadiq second (12:35.10) and Aagam Nanda fourth (12:45.64).
Sierra finished second in the frosh/soph 2-mile with 64 points. Oakdale swept the top three, Sierra’s Renz Jordan Go was fourth (12:39.44) and Armin Kanojiya fifth (12:42.02).
Sierra’s Snehal Bhaira was eighth (17:41.29) in the girls 2-mile junior varsity and East Union’s Aracelie Mejia Prado was 10th (19:41.47).
Sierra finished second in the girls 2-mile frosh-soph with 34 points. Savannah Martin was fifth (17:17.17) for the Timberwolves and Eliza Blessan was sixth (17:18.13). Manteca’s Marinakis was third (16:54.47) and Zoey Whitaker fourth (17:02.98).
