Manteca’s girls soccer team didn’t get the result it wanted Friday at Guss Schmiedt Field, but its scoreless tie against Kimball keeps the Buffaloes in second place with one more Valley Oak League match remaining.
With Kimball (7-3-2, 13-8-2 overall) done for the regular season, Manteca (7-2-2, 16-2-4) can secure a runner-up finish — and more favorable postseason seed — behind Sierra with a win or a tie at East Union next Wednesday.
“Very physical and hard-fought game,” Manteca coach Justin Coenenberg said. “We had more possession and probably created better opportunities, but we were about even with shots on goal.”
Buffs keeper Aimee Meier did her part in the shut out, coming up with six saves.
