Ripon High is on pace to garner a dual Valley Oak League championship in water polo after its boys and girls teams knocked off Oakdale on the road Thursday.

The Indians dominated the girls game 11-2, while the boys avenged their lone league loss with a 12-9 victory. Ripon’s girls repeat as outright champions, and the boys are likely headed to a title share with one game remaining.

Goalkeeper Delaney Brubaker was minutes away from a shutout for the girls squad, but Oakdale was able to strike with two late goals. Brubaker finished with 14 saves, two steals and an assist.

The Indians relied on their upper classmen to handle the scoring load. Hailey Knief accounted for five of the goals, while senior Kennedy Brubaker converted on four of her five attempts. Brubaker also had three assists, two steals and won two sprints. Mia Sickler Lopez added two goals.

Additional information from the boys game was not available as of press time.

Ripon closes the regular season at home next Tuesday against Sierra. Sierra’s boys and girls teams were awarded wins via forfeiture against Weston Ranch on Thursday.
