Wickham leads RC to rivalry win

RIPON – Ripon High hasn’t been able to get a break of luck as of late and the club’s struggles continued with a 178-187 loss to the Ripon Christian Knights Thursday in Valley Foothill League play.

The Knights (3-2) got a solid round from No. 1 Jenny Wickham (37) to the lead the way, followed by Kaitlyn Groshong’s 43. Both Vanessa Vallo and Stacie Darretta turned in 49s and Robyn Reyes and lauren Hogam shot 54s.

The Indians (1-4) were led by Sienna Stark’s 39, Erin Wever’s 44  and Hailey Rae Rose turned in a 46. Both Maddie Hawes and Sierra Atliano rounded out the Ripon scorecard with rounds of 58.

Sierra 266, Weston Ranch DQ

It went from a VOL matchup to practically a scrimmage Thursday, when one of Weston Ranch’s top golfers came down with the chicken pox to force the Cougars into a forfeit.

Sierra still got productive rounds from Elia Vazquez (48), Lexus Barnes (52) and Melanie Kisel (52).

Lydia McDonald led the Cougars’ effort with a 54 and Jonelle Mungcal shot a 58.

The 54 was McDonald’s best round of the season.
