Tyler Paul Wentworth and Seth Van Dyk had the big bats for the Manteca Little League major A’s on Wednesday with Wentworth and Van Dyk dominating from the mound as well in an 8-2 playoff victory over the Yankees.
Batting No. 1 and No. 2, Wentworth (3 for 3, home run, triple, three runs) led off the A’s first with his 14th home run of the year and Van Dyk (2 for 2, two home runs) followed with a home run in the first and added one in the fifth following Wentworth’s triple.
Van Dyk pitched the first three innings, striking out seven. Wentworth pitched the last three innings, striking out eight.
Rex Watson (two runs) and Blake Mejorado were each 2 for 3 for the Yankees.
Colton Stonum and Mejorado combined to throw eight strikeouts for the Yankees.
The A’s face either the Brewers or the Giants at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Minors
Giants 11, Cubs 5
Cooper Chamberlain and Preston Smith had three hits apiece to lead the 10-hit Giants attack.
Nikko Juarez and Ethan Freitas had RBIs in the first inning to jump start the Giants. Nikko Juarez added a pair of hits.
Ray Masudi had two of 12 stolen bases for the Cubs.
The Giants face the Marlins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Ryan Guibor had four RBI and Nick Garcia three to pace the A’s.
Owen Gully was 4 for 4 for the A’s, Brayden Camara 3 for 3, Garcia 2 for 3 with Richie Hughes, Julian Garcia, Josh Ojeda, Landon Neisius, and Spencer Chiribel adding a hit to the A’s attack.
Hughes hurled three strikeouts, Ryan Guibor two and Gully closed the sixth out ending the game with a strikeout.
Isaac Alvarez was 3 for 3, Aydan Harris 2 for 2 with Devon Richardson, Adan Rosas, Blake Glasglow, chase Reece, Anthony Morales, and Colten Anderson all getting a hit for the Angels.
The A’s face the Orioles in the championship round today at 5:30 p.m.
