Knights, Cowboys, Spartans advance in postseason play

MODESTO — Devin Richardson made an interception for the Ripon Knights novice Saturday to kill a final drive by the Hughson Oilers and ensure a 19-12 Ripon victory in opening-round Trans-Valley Youth Football League playoff action at Big Valley Christian High School.

Hunter Steele ran for 108 yards with two touchdowns behind the dominating Knights offensive line of Jimmy Heida, Matthew Chapman, Logan Hargis, Mario Garcia, Brady Rossi, Dax Beidlemann, Brody Nail, Joshua Jacobson, Jesse Healy, Sam Gambrel, Junior Rodriguez, and David Rowe. Roman Guzman scored the other Knights touchdown and Quentin Clark ran for 59 tough yards. 

Mario Garcia made seven tackles for Ripon with Nikko Juarez making six stops, Guzman four and Richardson three. 

 

NCYFC Rookies

Cowboys 40, Raiders 20

MOUNTAIN HOUSE — Bryson Davis scored four touchdowns for the Manteca Cowboys.

Davis ran for 210 yards with 1-, 13- and 30-yard touchdown runs and a 16-yard scoring catch from Anthony Morales. Gabriel Flores (63 yards rushing) scored from 1 yard out and Omar Diaz had an 8-yard touchdown run.   

Davis made six tackles, Omar Diaz (fumble recovery) and Isaac Alvarez five and Jeremy Ap’e and Gabriel Lopez three apiece. Santana Stevenson added and interception.

 

DYFL Varsity

Spartans vs. Chargers

CERES — The Lathrop Spartans automatically advanced out of the first round as the Manteca Chargers did not have enough players to field a team, so the contest reverted to a running-clock controlled scrimmage. 

Lyon Colon carried the ball just four times for Lathrop and gained 143 yards with touchdown runs of 30, 35 and 68 yards. Jeremiah Estante added 5- and 16-yard touchdown runs with five carries for 105 yards. Ben Ruvalcaba forced and recovered a fumble, returning it for a 44-yard touchdown. 

Ruvalcaba and Colon (interception) made five tackles apiece. Josiah Pena added three stops and Estante (interception), Noah martinez (two pass deflections) and Amarii Valdovinos made two tackles each.
