Area girls soccer players ages 14 and older have the opportunity to learn from a former professional this Saturday at Woodward Park.

The Manteca FC youth organization is hosting a one-day clinic instructed by Sissi, a three-time Women’s World Cup participant and two-time Olympian for the Brazilian national team. Also providing instruction is Sanaldo of the Stockton Cougars indoor professional soccer team. Sanaldo will train goalkeepers.

The clinic will run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and is available at an affordable price of $35 per player.

Sissi played professionally for the San Jose CyberRays in the now-defunct Women’s United Soccer Association, and in 2004 and 2008 she was named MVP of the Women’s Professional Soccer League as a member of the California Storm.

One of her greatest achievements internationally came in 1999, when she earned the FIFA Golden Boot and Silver Ball in the World Cup.

Sissi currently serves as an ambassador for FIFA is a part of the organizing committee for the under-17 and under-20 women’s World Cups.
