Cabrera helps to shut out Stockton, San Jose wins

SAN JOSE (AP) — Sandro Cabrera and three other pitchers combined for a shutout as the San Jose Giants topped the Stockton Ports 3-0 on Friday.
Cabrera (2-0) went 3 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing three hits while striking out five and walking one to pick up the win. Brian Howard (1-1) went 5 1/3 innings, allowing two runs and two hits in the California League game. He also struck out 10 and walked one. Rodolfo Martinez retired the side in order for his second save of the season.
San Jose scored its runs when Frandy De La Rosa hit a two-run home run in the first inning and Brandon Van Horn scored on a wild pitch in the eighth.
Stockton missed a couple of scoring opportunities, leaving the bases loaded in the second and fourth innings.
The Ports squandered some scoring chances, leaving 14 runners on base in the loss. Stockton was held scoreless for the second time this season, while the San Jose staff recorded its third shutout of the year.
