PORTLAND, Ore. —  Concordia’s Olivia Vezaldenos was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week as announced by the conference office.

Vezaldenos scored a season high 26 points in the Cavs’ 87-54 win over Warner Pacific in their home opener this past Saturday evening. She is an East Union High graduate.

The sophomore transfer led CU to its fifth victory of the season with her 26 points on nine of 16 shooting from the field.  The Cavalier guard was six-for-ten from three-point range while connecting on both of her free throws.

She also grabbed two rebounds, dished out one assist and recorded a season high five steals in the victory.

For the season, she is averaging 12.0 points, 2.0 steals, 1.6 assists and 1.5 rebounds per game.  She is shooting 40.7% from the field and 42.3% from three-point range.  Vezaldenos also is a perfect eight for eight from the charity stripe.

Concordia (5-3) is off until next Monday-Tuesday, when the Cavs travel to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for a pair of non-conference games on the campus of Nova Southeastern University.  CU will face No. 8 Drury University on Dec. 17 and Nova Southeastern on December 18.  T
