LANCASTER (AP) — Tyler Nevin hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning, leading the Lancaster JetHawks to a 6-5 win over the Modesto Nuts on Friday.
Modesto had a runner on first in the top of the ninth, but a runner was thrown out to end the game as Reid Humphreys earned his 19th save of the season.
The home run by Nevin scored Vince Fernandez and was the game’s last scoring play.
Bryan Baker (2-1) got the win with a scoreless inning in relief while Anthony McIver (0-3) took the loss in the California League game.
For the Nuts, Gareth Morgan homered and singled, scoring two runs. Luis Liberato homered and doubled, driving in two runs.
Lancaster improved to 9-2 against Modesto this season.
