Cowboys rally past Bucs to win Central Valley Youth varsity title

The Manteca Cowboys fell behind the Tracy Buccaneers early but did not stay there for long as Manteca scored 25-unanswered points on the way to a 25-8 win in the Central Valley Youth Football and Cheer final.

This marks the second-consecutive undefeated season for the varsity Cowboys.

Nikko Juarez and Nikko Hisapryor were the workhorses for Manteca with Juarez netting 133 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown run of 5 yards and a 35-yard touchdown catch from Mehtaab Bhangu. Hisapryor had eight carries for 116 yards with a 67-yard touchdown run and Dean Sortonis plunged in a score from 1 yard out, gaining 40 yards on five carries.

Julian Ramirez made five tackles for the Cowboys. Sortonis, Damien Delgadillo, Ricky Soria and Juarez (interception) all had four tackles apiece.

 

Junior varsity

Lodi Jr. Flames 25, Manteca Jr. Buffs 6

Brody Carabello scored Manteca’s lone touchdown on a 35-yard run in the second quarter.

Carabello ran for 116 yards and threw for 68. Riggelman tallied 40 yards rushing and 28 receiving.

Brixton Ortiz led the Cowboys defense with 10 tackles. Leiland Riggelman and Brody Carabello added six tackles apiece and Alex Espinoza (interception) chipped in four stops.

 

Rookies

Lathrop Jr. Spartans 19, Jr. Flames 0

Lathrop’s Logan Martinez scored two touchdowns.

Martinez ran for 184 yards. Daniel Villavicencio scored a touchdown, gaining 68 yards on seven carries and Jordan Romo contributed to the Jr. Spartans offense.  

Lathrop’s Johnny Silvas and Carlos Gutierrez made six tackles apiece and Adrian Torres added five.
