Rylan Tinsley of the Weston Ranch Major All Stars beats the throw to Trent Prokes on Wednesday in a 7-2 extra-inning consolation win for Salida in the District 67 All-Star Tournament at Paul Weston Park.

STOCKTON — The Salida Little League Major All-Stars had the ball bounce their way in the seventh inning, scoring five runs to break a tie and defeat tournament host Weston Ranch 7-2 in the consolation quarterfinals of the District 67 Tournament at Paul Weston Park.

The two teams were tied 2-2 after six innings, but a combination of seeing-eye singles, a pair of Weston Ranch errors and two solid hits led to the five Salida runs in the extra frame, ending the season for Weston Ranch.

Anthony Faulk started on the hill for Weston Ranch and went six innings, striking out four and at one time setting down 11 in a row. The only runs Faulk gave up came via a two-run home run by Trent Prokes, the second batter Faulk faced.

Hassani Zackery got Weston Ranch on the board in the second inning with a leadoff home run. Faulk had an RBI single in the third that plated Ryan Tinsley (double) in the third inning for the other Weston Ranch run.

Weston Ranch had runners on base all night but had problems getting them across, ending five innings with runners stranded in scoring position. In the sixth inning with the bases loaded and two outs, Zackery (2 for 3, home run) broke for home on a passed ball but a superior defensive play by Salida cut Zackery down at the plate and forced the extra inning.

Tinsley enjoyed an outstanding fifth inning. In the top of the frame he made a highlight-reel catch on a fly ball at first base and then got unassisted putouts on the next two batters. In the bottom of the inning, Tinsley belted a one-out double and advanced to third on a wild pitch but was left stranded.

Salida next takes on Northgate Friday at 6 p.m. in what is a rematch of their second-round showdown. Manteca awaits the winner in the championship round.
