OROVILLE — Backed by an error-free defense, Lucy Segura and the Ripon Little League 8-10-year-old all-stars prevailed in pitcher’s duel to claim the Northern California state championship on Thursday.

Segura pitched a shutout in the 2-0 win over Red Bluff at Brandt Field, striking out nine.

Jianna Bello knocked in the go-ahead run with a single in the fourth inning. Presley Bassett went 3 for 3, while Malina Dominguez added two hits and two steals.

The rest of the Ripon minor league all-star team includes Georgie Crooker, Harper Eubling, Layla McNeil, Willow Ratliff, Kam Teunissen, Kynsley Triller and Kendall Vargas.
