STOCKTON — Two unearned runs proved costly for Manteca in a 3-1 loss to Linden in the consolation final of the Little League California Section 6 8-10 All-Star Tournament Monday at Christa McAuliffe Middle School.
“The talent on this team and only being 9 and 10 years old is amazing,” Manteca manager Bubba Carabello said. “I am looking forward to seeing these kids grow another year and develop and not only going after another district flag, but also going after that 11-year-old section flag as well.
“They have the talent. Both games they lost they were right there. No doubt in my mind they will be back.”
Manteca managed only five hits and never more than one in an inning. Brody Carabello bunted for a hit while Madden Melendez, Kai Masudi, Jacoby Salinas and Louis Rivera each added a hit.
Besides the two errors that led to the unearned runs, the Manteca field defense as well as the catcher was outstanding.
