Manteca Cowboys tame rival Jr. Buffaloes

Nico Juarez racked up nearly 200 rushing yards and scored two touchdowns for the Manteca Cowboys in a 20-6 win over the Manteca Jr. Buffaloes in NorCal Youth Football and Cheer action.

Juarez (19 carries, 193 yards) scored on runs of 39 and 72 yards and Anthony Lynch added a 7-yard scoring run. Bobo Gallegos added 64 yards on nine carries.

Kaiden Solis, Kayden Jones, Anthony Valdez and Juarez made five tackles apiece for the Cowboys with Eli Perez, Anthony Lynch and Anthony Oteri chipping in three each.

Owen Gully threw a 27-yard scoring pass to Fernando Villalvazo for the lone Jr. Buffaloes score. Maava Tialavea added 63 yards on 13 carries.

Tialavea and Micah Cardoza made five tackles apiece for the Jr. Buffaloes with Noah Navarro, Brayden Camara, Carson Sablan and Robert Gaston added four tackles each.

 

Junior varsity

Cowboys 36, Jr. Buffaloes 20

Nikko Hisapryor ran wild for the Cowboys with six rushing touchdowns.

Hisapryor racked up 277 yards on 20 carries with scoring runs of 5, 30, 49, 59 and 60 yards. He set up his 59-yard scoring scamper when he forced a fumble for Elias Lopez to recover. Hisapryor scored shortly thereafter.

Dean Sortonis added 69 yards on 11 carries for the Cowboys with Julian Ramirez and Adrian Sena also contributing on offense.

Hisapryor led the Cowboys with nine tackles. Sortonis added seven stops, Julian Ramirez and Andrew Salmeron six apiece, Landon Sanders, Alexander Leon and Michael Rivera five each and Lopez, Sena and Joseph Vigil four apiece.

Maddox Morales ground out 142 yards on 11 carries with touchdown runs of 11 and 75 yards for the Jr. Buffaloes. Brody Carabello hit Jcoby Salinas with a 47-yard touchdown pass.

Morales and Lucas Ruiz had six tackles apiece for the Jr. Buffaloes. Erick Cortez, Madden Melendez and Leiland Riggelman also contributed on defense.

 

Rookies

Cowboys 32, Jr. Buffaloes 14

Terrance Montgomery scored three touchdowns for the Cowboys.

Montgomery (seven carries, 123 yards) scored on runs of 34 and 64 yards along with a 65-yard kickoff return. Bryant Lewis (four carries, 43 yards) had a 25-yard scoring run and Erion Johnson Jr. scored from 1 yard out. Giovanni Perry also contributed to the Cowboys offense.

Jonathan Morales led the Cowboys defense with 10 tackles. Montgomery (fumble recovery) added six stops, Devin Cortinas and Johnson Jr. five apiece and Michael Wynne four.

Santino Sanchez (eight carries, 6 yards) scored on a 12-yard run for the Jr. Buffaloes and Isileli Lolohea (five carries, 35 yards) added a 5-yard touchdown run. Luke Scalise and John Ellis also contributed on offense.

Sanchez led the Jr. Buffaloes defense with eight tackles. Grayson Keller added five stops with Brach Carabello, Keoni Oliver, Ellis and Manoah Ellis making three tackles apiece.

 

Starts

Cowboys 32, Jr. Buffaloes 28

The Cowboys outscored the Jr. Buffaloes 13-7 in the third quarter and that proved to be the difference.

Semaj Thornton racked up 132 yards on just two carries for the Cowboys and scored on both carries. Mateo Gavino, Charvelle Moore-Stevens and Max Rios also contributed on offense.

Thornton had 243 special-teams yards and three touchdowns.

Abil George led the Cowboys defense with 12 tackles. Charvelle Moore added 11 stops, Thornton eight and Jonathan Furtis six.

 

Motherlode Valley Football League

Varsity

Ripon Chiefs 45, Argonaut Jr. Mustangs 6

A dominating defense and the fleet feet of Jackson Fay led the Chiefs to the win.

Xabriel Reyes had a defensive touchdown for Ripon and Fay returned an interception for a touchdown. Klayton Olivera (fumble recovery) made seven tackles, Tip Paini six and Jaden McGee recovered two fumbles.

Fay paced tallied 145 yards on eight carries and made two receptions for 101 yards and one touchdown. Julian Deweerd added 66 yards on seven carries with two touchdowns and Kirk Simoni was 4 of 4 passing for 109 yards and one touchdown.

 

Junior varsity

Chiefs 47, Jr. Mustangs 0

The Chiefs have not allowed a point in their last three games.

Andrew Shaw scored two touchdowns for Ripon with Kael Rangel, Ace Dougherty, Lucas Weaver and Gavin Duran adding one touchdown apiece. Duran’s touchdown run was the longest at 50 yards.

Kaiden Romero (six tackles) returned an interception 66 yards for a Chiefs touchdown. Gilbert Luiz II (six tackles) forced two fumbles and recovered one. Shaw (fumble recovery) added three tackles and Duran made an interception.

Varsity

Modesto Rams 20, Ripon Knights 6

Mason Tameling hit J.J. Brawley with a 10-yard fourth-quarter touchdown pass for the lone Knights points.

Tameling was 4 of 15 passing for 53 yards with two interceptions and had 48 rushing yards on five carries.

Eddie Ramirez led Ripon with 18 tackles. Dax Beidleman added 12 stops with Matthew Chapman (blocked punt, forced fumble) adding six tackles and Landon Crawford (blocked conversion kick, fumble recovery) and Brawley notching five stops apiece. Ben Vita and Kaden Dodson each had a pass deflection.

 

Junior novice

Rams 27, Knights 6

Alex Lora scored the lone Knights touchdown.

Lora scored on a 59-yard run and led the Ripon defense with 75 rushing yards. Tyce Thompson added a 27-yard run.

Luke Sanders led the Knights defense with 14 tackles. Hudson Postma (forced fumble, fumble recovery) added 11 stops and Lucas Duran nine.

 

Delta Youth Football

Varsity

Jr. Jackets 13, Manteca Chargers 7

Logan Pool led the lone touchdown for the Chargers and led the defense as well.

Hezekiah Griffin tallied eight stops for Manteca with Antony Blue and Xavier Torres playing well on defense.

 

Jr. Jackets 27, Chargers 0

Darren Ellis made a fumble recovery and multiple tackles for Manteca.

Gilbert Sanchez had some big runs for the Chargers with Dominic Roa, Nicholas Holt and Shane Saenz chipping in on defense.

 

Novice

Jr. Jackets 40, Chargers 0

Junior Evans and Arieon Shortridge paced the Manteca offense.

Lloyal Galtney made seven tackles for the Chargers. Diesel Spangler added four stops, Zackery Behrbaum three with Evans and Jayden Vasquez playing well on defense.

 

Junior novice

Jr. Jackets 28, Chargers 0

Jeremiah Valdes and Jayden Shortridge spearheaded the offensive and defensive efforts for the Chargers.

Jharon Jackson also chipped in on defense for Manteca.
