SALIDA – The Ripon Jayhawks hammered out 15 hits Wednesday to blast Tracy 17-2 via the mercy rule in a five-inning semifinal at Salida Ball Park in the Little League District 67 Juniors Softball Tournament of Champions.

Ripon jumped ahead 5-0 in the first inning behind Joey Meyers’ two-RBI single and Reagan Fernandes’ two-RBI triple and the Jayhawks never looked back. Fernandes finished 2 for 3 with three RBI, two runs, a double and a triple and Meyers was 2 for 2 with three RBI, three runs and a pair of walks.

Contributing to the power show for Ripon were Paxtyn Massey (2 for 3, three RBI, three runs), Olivia Jasper (2 for 5, two RBI, two runs), Emma Jasper (RBI, two runs) and Katy Scheffer capped the night’s scoring with an RBI triple in the fifth.

Lilly Hendryk went the first three innings for the Jayhawks, allowing one run on two hits, and Olivia Jennings closed out the final two innings with one run on one hit.

Tracy’s Jahlia Pride and Daisy Lee each tallied an RBI.

Ripon will play the winner of Salida and Tracy on Monday at 5:30 p.m. for the championship.
