MODESTO - The Modesto Symphony Orchestra and Music Director David Lockington celebrate the start of the Orchestra’s 82nd season with Opening Weekend Concerts on Oct. 12-13 at 8 p.m. at the Gallo Center for the Arts.

The Season Opening Concerts include romantic favorites and features David Lockington’s wife, acclaimed violinist Dylana Jenson, performing Massenet’s “Meditation” from Thaïs and Ravel’s Tzigane. The program also features Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 3, Elgar’s Serenade for Strings, and Respighi Ancient Airs and Dances ll.

Jenson has performed with most major orchestras in the United States and traveled to Europe, Australia, Japan and Latin America for concerts, recitals and recordings. After her triumphant success at the Tchaikovsky Competition, where she became the youngest and first American woman to win the Silver Medal, she made her Age 17 - Tchaikovsky Competition Carnegie Hall debut playing the Sibelius Concerto with Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Following her most recent Carnegie Hall performance, Jenson again electrified both audience and critics in her performance of Karl Goldmark’s violin concerto.

Lockington has developed an impressive conducting career in the United States over the past 25 years. A native of Great Britain, he has served as the Music Director of the Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra since January 1999 and was appointed to the position of Music Director of the Modesto Symphony Orchestra in May 2007. He is also the former Music Director of the New Mexico Symphony and the Long Island Philharmonic.
