The Manteca Convention & Visitors Bureau is convinced folks are going to fall for Manteca “Hook, Wine  & Sneakers.”
They’ve even rolled out a new visitors guide based on the CVB’s new brand.
“It’s going great,” Manteca CVB Executive Director Linda Abeldt said of the new slogan.
The slogan references the close proximity to the Delta and various fishing spots as well as Bass Pro locating in Manteca for the hook, Delicato Vineyards and other wineries for the wine, and Big League Dreams sports complex as well as the city’s 11 soccer fields, golf course, 48-lane bowling alley and BMX course opening next year for the sneakers.
The CVB has dropped the slogan “Heart of California” for “Hook, Wine & Sneakers” featuring  a new logo complete with a fish, a clump of grapes, and sneakers.
The new 28-page visitors guides delineates the type of activities and attractions depicted in the slogan.
It also has information for visitors that uses a map of California to depict how close Manteca is to numerous destinations from Yosemite Valley, Old Sacramento, San Jose, San Francisco, Napa Valley and the Gold Country
The magazine contains information on hotels, restaurants, and events throughout the year as well as various spots around Manteca that are shown as part of an artistic map on the centerfold.
The magazine also contains a list of all CVB members.
The cover photo shows Bass Pro Shops at night. The store was selected due to the fact it just opened and is now the biggest draw for Manteca luring visitors from San Jose, Napa, Fresno, Sacramento, Marin County and other locations throughout Northern California.
Abeldt noted the CVB receives requests from all over the world for a printed magazine on Manteca attractions. They average between 200 and 300 such requests a month.
Altogether, 25,000 copies of the 2009 Visitors Guide were printed. They are also distributed to out-of-town teams playing in tournaments at the BLD complex as well as to various groups meeting in Manteca whether it is for business or fun.
There is also a PDF copy that can be downloaded from the CVB’s website at www.visitmanteca.org .
The CVB is now adding various items from caps and shirts to sweatshirts with the new “Hook, Wine & Sneakers” logo for $10 and up.
