With spring comes new life in nature and fresh fashions for clothes. The Manteca Federated Women’s Club has the perfect event for everyone to “don your best spring attire” this year.
That event is the annual Family Spring Fling Luncheon set for Palm Sunday, April 17, starting at noon at the Manteca Senior Center, 295 Cherry Lane in Manteca just behind the Police Department offices on West Center Street. The benefit, which aims to raise money for the club’s scholarship program, promises a “stylish afternoon of friends, family, good food, desserts and entertainment.”
In the past, this event has featured a variety of attractions. One year, the afternoon extravaganza’s highlight was a fashion show. Another year, guests were invited to come to the afternoon celebration dressed in their favorite foreign costume.
This year, one of the big attractions is a “huge” and “spectacular” ensemble for the opportunity-drawing portion of the entertainment consisting of various blown-glass items donated by German Glas Werks of Manteca. This variety of blown-glass decorative and functional pieces include a large cylinder bowl, 15 small floating balls, 18 of medium size pieces, and two-dozen oil candle with wicks, among others. Total value for the German Glas Werks donation: $653. The bowl alone is worth $150.
Tickets for the opportunity drawing will be sold during the event. The door prize ticket will be included with the price of admission which is $20 each for adults and $10 each for children 12 and under.
There will be no tickets sold at the door. To purchase tickets or for more information about this sixth annual scholarship fund-raiser, call (209) 823-2494. Tickets will be on sale through Friday, April 1.
Doors will open at noon. Lunch will start promptly at 1 p.m.
