There are plenty of artistic things to see and hear, not to mention refreshments, tonight at Sierra High School.

The evening promises a two-hour Evening of the Arts extravaganza starting at 6 o’clock in the school cafeteria and other venues of the school. Visual art displays will showcase the creative juices and imaginations of talented Timberwolves. Performances by the drama class, along with performances by the band and choir will entertain guests. The choir will perform at 6-6:20 p.m.; the drama group at 6:25-6:50 p.m.; and the band at 6:55-7:25 p.m. The students’ artwork will be on display in the cafeteria.

The 6:55 band number is an encore performance for the Disneyland Band. Additional entertainment will be performed in the cafeteria by the Jazz combo from 7:30 to 8 p.m.

No-cost refreshments will be served. The public is invited.

This evening of the arts event is presented by the Sierra High Art Department.

There’s more to come. On Friday, April 12, the second annual Jazz Club at the Den will take place. The school cafeteria, which is the venue for this special event, will be transformed to look like a jazz club. Several jazz combos including Band Director Rick Hammarstrom’s own band, “On Track,” will perform as well as the Sierra High Jazz Band. The evening will conclude with a jam session, with students invited to bring their own instruments and play along. Cost for this jam session is $5 with the proceeds going to the Sierra High Band. There will be gift baskets which will be up for bid, plus food items for sale. The fun will begin at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, April 13, from 4 to 6:30 p.m., the Sierra Jazz Band is scheduled to perform at the Lathrop Volunteer Recognition Dinner. On May 2, the band will perform at the annual Del Webb scholarship fund-raiser from 6:15 to 7 p.m. The Sierra High Jazz Band will also be playing at the Calla High graduation ceremonies on Thursday, May 17, at Crossroads Community Church in Manteca.

The annual spring concert for all Sierra High bands is set for Thursday, May 3, starting at 7:30 p.m. On Wednesday, May 9, the annual Awards Night will be held.
