Several incumbents on the local school boards will be seeking re-election come November.

The San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters said Wednesday that Manuel Medeiros, Nancy Teicheira and Evelyn Moore – all long-time trustees – are among those looking to retain their posts at Manteca Unified.

Trustee Ernest Tyhurst at Ripon Unified is also hoping to serve another term.

The deadline for incumbents along with qualified challengers to file is Friday, Aug. 6, by 5 p.m. at the SJC Registrar of Voters office located at 44 N. San Joaquin St., Suite 350, Stockton.

Medeiros represents those residing in portions of north Manteca, Lathrop and French Camp. He’ll be challenged for his Area 2 post by Joey Ermitanio, who is listed as a school district treasurer.

He’s also a former candidate for Lathrop City Council.

Teicheira is looking to retain her Area 4 seat consisting of the south portion of the district.

The same goes for Moore, who represents Area 5 made up mostly of the City of Manteca.

Vern Gebhardt, who also represents Area 5, has yet to file.

He’s a retired educator – he was teacher and coach at East Union and Sierra, serving as athletic director for the latter – and is completing his first term on the board.

In Ripon, Tyhurst is seeking re-election for his Area 2 post.

His seat along with that of Donna Parks (Area 1) and long-time trustee Larry Stewart (Area 3) are up grabs.
