FRENCH CAMP — Annie Cunial noticed more families in attendance at Wednesday’s Back-to-School Night at French Camp School.

“It was double that of last year’s numbers,” said the school’s program coordinator.

Perhaps it was the taco truck parked on campus, with families waiting patiently in a long line stretching from the playground black top – that’s where the local vendor was located – to the front gate adjacent to the outdoor staging area.

Some of the proceeds from the meals went back to the school, according to Cunial.

“We made a little money,” she added.

Another factor to the boost in attendance was the Back-to-School Night reminder by the country music radio station performing on campus just last week.

Whatever the reason, the annual French Camp School was deemed a success.

In addition, the Back-to-School Night – included was an open house – provided the various organizations such as Give Every Child A Chance to meet with parents and share information about their program, and allowed those fundraising for science camp to promote their breakfast function from 8 to 10 a.m. in the school cafeteria.

Cunial and others at the Manteca Unified campus are looking forward to Sept. 4.

That’s when the school will hold a STAR Celebration from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
