LATHROP – Elijah Cash stars as Adam, who is the eldest in the Lathrop High spring musical “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.”

Alayna Asuncion is Milly. She agrees to marry Adam only to discover that he has six brothers living in his cabin.

Cash and Asuncion are in Dianna Puett’s Advance Drama group. Since January, they’ve been putting together “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers,” which opens Thursday, April 12, at the Lathrop High Performance Arts / Theatre, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

“They’ve all been working hard (in rehearsals),” said Puett, who is the director.

She’s joined by French teacher Judy Avila on piano / keyboard, Kristina Candelaria as choreographer, and Teresa Lorentz, who designed the costumes.

Adam’s brothers are played by Myles Romo (Ben), John Owenby (Caleb), Daniel Lorentz (Daniel), Manuel Ramirez (Ephraim), and Martin Zavala (Frank).

Jessica Barnes, Alma Contreras, Megan Shelton, Ashley Jaime, Jorelyn Gansit, and Yesenia Utley star as the brides.

Suitors include Nick Vaughn, Wilmer Alvarez, Kenda Davis, Scott Edwards, Eric Deleon, and Jared Weiler.

Performances will also be held April 15, 21 and 22 at 12:30 p.m.

“We are running matinees as it will be a fairly fun play for kids and adults,” Puett said.

The closing night is 7:30 Friday, April 20.

Cost is $6 general admission and $3 for those age 12 and under along with senior citizens.
