Freshmen orientation at Manteca High is scheduled Monday from 8:30 to noon at Winter Gymnasium.

This is where Link Crew students – mostly juniors and seniors – are matched with a ninth-grade student for the entire year.

The goal is to connect that freshman with someone who can help answer questions while making him or her apart of the high school process early on. “We want to provide (freshmen) with the right atmosphere to succeed during their four years at MHS,” said Social Studies teacher Nina Norton.

Registration at MHS will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday with Buffalo Round Up days. School starts in Manteca Unified on Thursday, Aug. 8

At Sierra High, orientation for all students is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Seniors will have a chance to pick up their ID cards and books during this process, from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Freshmen can do likewise on this day from 10 a.m. to noon.

On Wednesday, MHS juniors can pick up their ASB cards, P.E. uniforms, spirit wear or pay bills, from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Sophomores will be able do the same on this day, from 10 a.m. to noon.

At Lathrop High, the “Spartan Unite” orientation is scheduled from 8 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday for sophomores and 10 to noon for juniors.

Seniors can register from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Freshmen can do likewise from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

In addition, registration at East Union will place on Tuesday and Wednesday.
