Among the art works displayed in the Manteca Unified School District office are creations by talented young students. Several of those art pieces were purchased by Superintendent Jason Messer during previous years’ District Art Show & Sale which showcases the “Best of the Best” talents from area elementary and high school campuses.

Tonight, there will be plenty of opportunity for the young artists’ families and friends, school officials and the general public to view and admire, and perhaps even purchase one of the “best” art pieces from these art prodigies.

The 2012 District Art Show and Sale will be held in the board room of the district administration building, located at 2271 W. Louise Ave., from 4 to 7 p.m. Admission is free. There will be live entertainment as well. Last year, music on the piano was provided by East Union High School choir director and music teacher Anne Talcott while guests walked the room to admire the students’ works on display.

Some of the art pieces will have blue, red, and white ribbons signifying the awards that they received. The top award is Best in Show, given to the entry that is chosen above all the rest. The 2011 Best in Show was given to Dante Pasquini of East Union High for his intricate and detailed portrait of a be spectacled and mustachioed man. Detail of that artwork graces the district flyer announcing the 2012 Art Show & Sale.

Refreshments will be available to the  young artists and their families following the show and sale.
