Three Manteca schools among states 484 best

Brock Elliott, Stella Brockman and George McParland schools are the toast of Manteca Unified.

The district’s kindergarten- through eighth- grade sites recently made the list of the 2010 Distinguished Schools.

On Monday, the three local Distinguished Schools will be recognized by the board of trustees during the 7 p.m. open session. But before that, a reception will take place, celebrating the accomplishments of Brock Elliott, Stella Brockman and McParland starting at 6 o’clock in the administration building, 2271 W. Louise Ave.

This year, only 484 schools from throughout the state earned the title of Distinguished Schools.

Other agenda items include:

•Trustees, in closed session, could look to appoint a dean of secondary athletics / teacher at Manteca High.

•The board is scheduled to pay recognition to the Planet Party Day Committee members; Kathy and Bob Wallace for their service and support to the district; classified employees with 25 and 30 years of service; and recipients of the 2010 Manteca Hall of Fame.

•Trustees could consider and discuss 2010-2011 school-year budget reductions affecting the Adult School program and student transportation.
