The San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office filed a lone misdemeanor charge of sexual battery Tuesday against former Manteca Bulletin publisher Paul Mahony, 54.

Several women staffers at the paper cited misconduct by Mahony, however the district attorney moved forward on only one complaint.  Arraignment has been set for March 9 at 1:30 p.m. at the Manteca Branch of the San Joaquin County Superior Court.

The district attorney’s office has reportedly mailed Mahony a letter directing him to appear for the arraignment in Department M2 of the Manteca courthouse.

Mahony was terminated from his position on Wednesday, Feb. 10, following employee complaints and after an internal corporate investigation.   Mahony had served as publisher for some four years at the Manteca Bulletin.

Charles Hill Morris, regional manager with Morris Multimedia of Savannah, GA, said his firm took immediate action in the interest of employees when learning of the complaints.
