A southbound motorist allegedly under the influence of alcohol reportedly sideswiped a motorist’s vehicle at about 7 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of South Main Street and failed to stop.
Manteca Police said a woman motorist driving behind the man’s black Ford Focus witnessed the accident. After realizing the woman whose vehicle he struck was not visibly injured the caller gave chase and called 911 on her cell phone.  Officers from throughout Manteca responded to her directions and caught up with the Stockton driver, Willie Bledsoe Jr., at the Shell station on East Yosemite Avenue and Northwoods Drive just west of Highway 99.  It was roughly two miles from where the hit-and-run took place.
The driver complained to officers that he had a medical condition but they also gave him field sobriety test which indicated he was well over the legal limit, police said.  He was transported to a local hospital by ambulance for treatment of his medical condition and given a citation for the DUI charge.
