Lathrop celebrates birth with fireworks

Want to catch a fireworks show before the actual Fourth of July weekend?

Lathrop has got you covered.

On Wednesday, July 1, the City of Lathrop and the Lathrop Sunrise Rotary will host its annual birthday celebration at the Lathrop Generations Center starting at 6:30 p.m. and culminating with the city’s official fireworks show.

Music and refreshments will be provided.

And there couldn’t be a more perfect location.

Ever since it opened last year, the Lathrop Generations Center – a hybrid library, teen center and community-gathering place – has served the community with its state-of-the-art facilities and world-class skate park. A parkour course and a handball wall are also available for those wishing to partake, and a grass amphitheater will provide the ultimate in comfort and logistics for the bands performing during the event.

The multi-day celebration that has taken place in the past has been condensed down this year into a single evening featuring an aerial fireworks show. Money for the event was provided by both the City of Lathrop and Lathrop Sunrise Rotary, and the event will be free to the public.

The Lathrop Generations Center is located at 450 Spartan Way – the portion of Louise Avenue that extends west of I-5 towards Lathrop High School.
