Central Valley Baptist plans outdoor Easter service plus egg hunt

Youngsters at Central Valley Baptist Church are making plans to attend the special Easter service on Sunday followed by the egg hunt with 5,000 Easter eggs.

Central Valley Baptist Church is celebrating Easter with an outdoor service beginning at 10 a.m. Sunday.

The Manteca church at 10948 S. Airport Way has set the big stage up for this holiest of Holy Days with a special worship gathering featuring an Easter presentation coupled with uplifting music performed by the choir.

That’s a far cry from last year.

The COVID-19 pandemic forced places of worship including Central Valley Baptist Church to scale down operations. “We did a drive-thru distribution of Easter baskets,” recalled Executive Pastor Chris Asprelli.

Sunday’s Easter celebration will not only have one outdoor service – opposed to the recent multiple Sunday worship services, Asprelli noted – but some 5,000 Easter eggs waiting afterwards for the children.

Following the egg hunt, youngsters and their family will have a chance to remember this special Easter moment by taking photos at one of the five booths that day.

“We’re looking forward to Easter, especially with all that we’ve all missed out last year,” Asprelli said.
