The Eighth Grade Celebration Wednesday at Neil Hafley Elementary School was also a farewell event for Principal Lori Guzman-Alvarez.

She’s retiring after 20 years of dedicated service with the Manteca Unified School District.

Guzman-Alvarez made her entrance prior to the processional for the Class of 2025, waving pom-poms in celebration while making her way to the outdoor staging area.

Listed on the promotional event were 106 eighth-grade students – of that, many will make their way in the coming months to nearby East Union High.

The top academic students – 4.0 grade point average for all three trimesters – sported gold and red cords.

Included were Prince Chweya, Isaac Estrada, Mia Hassell-Smith, Gursimrat Kaur, Imagio Mack, Taliah Silapasay, Jesabel Teran, Breanna Trevino, Geoff Jacob Angeles, Brooke Bonifacio, Aaron Cruz, Zoe Flora, Allyson Glover, Jack Huynh, Travis Ledger, Ethan Angelo Lacorte, Yamileth Nafarrate Sandoval, Emma Plass, Olivia Burdett, Celina Delgado, Eduardo Limon Cebrero, Janelle Lopez, Camila Mercado Rivera, Jonathan Morales, and Ian Olivier.

Stella Brockman Elementary School’s celebration ceremony listed 95 eighth-grade students making up the Class of 2025.

The event featured a multicultural welcome by Diego Chavez Carmona (Spanish), Aleigha Croft (Portuguese), Prabhpreet Singh (Punjabi), Rihanna Omar (Farsi), and Knowledge Mitchell (American Sign Language).

Haile Kim welcomed those in attendance while also leading in the flag salute and performing the Stars Spangled Banner.

Class President AJ Inthavong was the student speaker.

The two vice principals – Jennifer Marquez and Lorena Ortega-Souza – announced the achievement awards while Sergio Gutierrez presented the class gift.

The presentation of the class was conducted by Principal Heather Gutierrez.

 

Mossdale

The Celebration of Promotion Ceremony at Mossdale Elementary School featured 162 eighth graders on the morning program.

Principal Sella Groves welcomed families, friends, and special guests in attendance inside the multipurpose room.

Among the students involved were Justine Pedro (Stars Spangled Banner), Suzanna Liu (student speaker), Adrianna Pe (student speaker), and the Mossdale School band.

The eighth-grade faculty handed out the Mossdale and MUSD awards.

 

Woodward

The Promotion Ceremony for the Walter Woodward School’s Class of 2025 was held Tuesday with 135 eighth graders listed in the program.

Of that, 27 earned 4.0 GPAs during all three trimesters.

They were: Karalynn JoAnn Bingham, Macie Lynn Blote, Elijah Briseno, Jashneetpal Kaur Deol, Trinity Ngocuyen Dinh, Kayleigh Douglas, Bianca Esparza, Daveau Fryer, Ekam Kaur Ghuman, Salhaj Kaur Ghuman, Isabella Gonzalez, Ibrahim Mohamed Gubary.

Marcos Guzman, Ethan Henderson, Megan Henderson, Kirie Hokanson, Nicholas Jimenez, Gurshan Kaur, Sahil Lemar, Kamron Masudi, Natalia Perez, Olivia Robancho, Avinoor Kaur Sandhu, Ethan Sereno, Noelle Smith, Serah Thomas, and Dana Williams,

The Woodward Band opened the special event, performing the processional Pomp & Circumstance.

Isabella Gonzalez led in the pledge of allegiance while Principal Heather Thomson welcomed those in attendance, including honored guests Bianca Esparza and Evelyn Rio.

In addition, Elijah Briseno, Ethan Henderson, and Kirie Hokanson served as student speakers.
