First Acorn League games in 2 new Measure A gyms; Morowit plans fundraiser

Two of the new “scores” — replacement “gyms” — made possible by existing elementary schools through the $260 million Measure A school bond will be used for the first Acorn League games this week.
Acorn League basketball games between elementary schools in the Manteca Unified district take place today at the new Brock Elliott School facility and Thursday at the new Joshua Cowell School facility.

The boys games start at 4 p.m. with the girls competition following at around 5 p.m.

The new multiple purpose rooms not only are larger to accommodate more lunch seating but the design and amenities accommodate other uses including sports and physical education.

The existing multipurpose rooms will be converted to other educational uses.
