Five more COVID deaths in Manteca since Oct. 23

Five more people have died from COVID-19 in Manteca since Oct. 23.

The pandemic that started in March 2020 has now claimed the lives of 152 Manteca residents. The death count in Ripon is at 29 and in Lathrop at 28. That is the same as it was on Oct. 23.  Countywide 1,775 people have died from COVID with just over half of those — 886 — in Stockton.

Those 65 and older account for 1,192 deaths or 67.2 percent of the lives lost to COVID-19 in San Joaquin County. There have been 425 deaths among those between 50 and 64 years of age, 157 deaths among 18 and 49 year olds, and one death under 18.

Just fewer than 20 percent did not have any other known underlying condition such as diabetes, obesity, asthma, cardiovascular disease, or chronic lung disease. Others that have died within the county have had one or more of those conditions. That includes almost 40 percent with diabetes and nearly 30 percent with cardiovascular disease.

As of Monday 75.7 percent of Manteca residents in the targeted age groups have been fully vaccinated. Another 8.7 percent are partially vaccinated. Those numbers for Lathrop are 88.4 percent and 9.6 percent. The Ripon numbers are 67.9 percent and 7.0 percent.  

Countywide 60.5 percent of the targeted population is fully vaccinated with 8.3 percent partially vaccinated.

California overall is at 61.3 percent fully vaccinated and another 13.3 percent partially vaccinated.

Nationally, 66.8 percent are fully vaccinated and 11.3 percent partially vaccinated.

Manteca currently has 33 cases of COVID-19 while Lathrop and Ripon each have 16 cases.

Since the start of the pandemic there have been 9,706 cases in Manteca, 3,213 cases in Lathrop, and 1,971 cases in Ripon.
